Charter boats are considered a service and are tax exempt in the state of Florida. There are a few online companies that are charging sales tax on fishing charters, simply to make more money. This is a scam that is both wrong and very illegal!! Stay away from these services that charge booking fees, service charges or surcharges. Ask them up front!
Please read first! – Apparently a few charter services have decided that instead of telling you the total cost up front for your charter, it is easier to give you a low-ball rate and hit you up with a very hefty fuel surcharge or worse yet, make you pay for all of the fuel used that day out of your pocket, in addition to their full rate!
What’s worse, is there are some guides that charge much more than we do, then have the nerve to ask for you to pay for “only the fuel we use on your trip”. Talk about a handsome profit.
Folk’s, our rates include all of the fuel necessary to run as far as we need to, to keep you on fish, no excuses. Due to high marina fuel prices, we have decided to be the first and only company to come up with a new, easier pricing system that avoids charging an additional fuel surcharge or making you pony up at the end of the day.
Our rates cover the entire cost of fuel no matter how far we must travel.

We recommend that you make advanced reservations with us then book your hotel and travel plans. As Key West’s largest guide service, we have access to many of the best guides here in Key West, however due to our large repeat customer base and many corporate events, availability can be exhausted, please be sure to make reservations as soon as possible to ensure a boat.
*NOTE: On some vessels we are willing to take the maximum number of passengers allowed by USCG law which is 6. We do this because we do not want to leave anyone of the dock and this allows large families to enjoy the day on the water together. With this being said, we never fish 5 or 6 people at one time. This adds to much stress to the bite and will actually decrease the amount of fish caught. If you are a group with more than 4 anglers (people wanting to fish) we can easily accommodate your group on multiple boats within the Pro Guides Team and stay together as close as possible.
