Capt. Ryan Carter — "Chasin' Tails"

Captain Ryan Carter was born to be a fishing guide. Arriving in Key West from Virginia at the tender age of five, Ryan found the waters of the lower keys and Key West to be an ideal playground. Daily Ryan fished and explored the vast back country with family and friends landing his first 100 pound plus Tarpon by age 9.

While attending high school, tournament shark fishing became his obsession. With several wins and notable catches to his credit Ryan increasingly pursued the more elusive sport fish of the shallows on light tackle and fly. Tarpon and Permit became his specialties with a personal appreciation for large predator Barracuda.

Captain Ryan is equally at home on the Gulf wrecks and the natural reef as he is in the shallows but prefers the challenges of "skinny water" in the most remote and isolated fishing grounds of the back country. Here is where Captain Ryan's talent shine brightest.

With a jovial nature and a personable easy going manner in concert with his driving passion to exceed his every guests expectation, Captain Ryan joined the legendary Key West Pro Guides team some five years ago. Today Captain Ryan is a renowned guide known for productive charters while always keeping it fun on the water. A perfect combination of knowledge, perseverance and the highest standard of customer service, Captain Ryan is a valued member of our team and you will enjoy your time together on the water.

"Capt. Ryan was OUTSTANDING!"

Capt. Roc,

I will indeed be posting a review on Trip Advisor - Today!

Before that, I must say that Capt. Ryan was OUTSTANDING!  Not only did he put us on the fish consistently, but he was respectful, courteous, and ensured we had not only a productive trip - but an enjoyable trip.  I think maybe he may have already sent you a picture of the grouper my son, Sean, caught on 12/19 during our trip (see attached).  The other thing I liked was that Capt. Ryan was gentle with the fish we caught.  I requested on our way out that I did not wish to harvest any fish and that we practice catch and release - Capt. Ryan accommodated this request.

Capt. Ryan was also punctual.  Meeting a cruise ship isn't always easy, but our ETA Key West was 0735, I had a txt message from Capt. Ryan on his status and where to meet him.  We were on board his boat by 0800 and underway for our Back Country Fishing Excursion.

I will not only recommend Capt. Ryan and Key West Pro Guides, but I will definitely book with y'all next time I am in the Keys!  Also, feel free to use any of the attached pictures for marketing purposes.

Professional outfit from booking to completion.

Thank you!
Happy New Year!
Daren M.

Fished the TideChaser with Capt. Ryan on the back end of a cold front where water temps dropped several deg. overnight. We also had a couple of first timers on board so kind of limited on our approach early on.

Started out slow but he was able to put us on some nice snapper and grouper with several other species as well. He was more than patient with our "newbies" and kept the conversation and good times going throughout the trip.

Overall a great morning on the water and I look forward to meeting up with him again next spring for some Tarpon.

This was our second time fishing in Key West with Capt. Ryan Carter and first time fishing with Key West Pro Guides and the experience was top notch. Capt. Ryan put us on the fish and kept the lines tight all day long at multiple spots targeting different species. Not only was the fishing great but Capt. Ryan kept his laughing the entire trip. Hurricane Hole Marina, where Key West Pro Guides is based, has great food, drinks, and atmosphere after the trip and is an easy drive or cab ride from anywhere in Key West.

Great fishing, great boats, and great Captains, I highly recommend Key West Pro Guides and will fish here again next trip.

My wife and I truly enjoyed the trip. Captain Ryan went out of his way (even jumped in the water to cast for Permit) to ensure we had a very successful fishing experience in the Key West area. He was truly a professional and I would recommend Key West Pro Guides to anyone looking for a unique fishing experience in the Key West area. Certainly plan on using them again next time we choose to vacation in Key West

We rode our bikes over to Hurricane Hole on tues to have a few drinks and on the check things out. On the way back we rode through "charter row" and decided it was not for us so we got home and called KWPG and super glad that we did. Capt. Roc hooked us up Ryan Carter and set up a 4 hour trip on Thursday Sept 25.

We showed up 1/2 hour early and he was there ready to go. Our first stop in our back country trip we had lines in the water and within minutes were catching yellowtail snapper and a beautiful grouper (made my knees weak) hehehe .

Next stop we were catching Ladyfish and a Horse eyed Jack? Our third location we caught more Yellow Tail and Mutton Snapper for dinner.

Last stop was shark fishing and the action was a sight to behold. With lines in we had snagged a shark (6 -7 ft).

All of this because Capt Ryan Carter put us on the fish in every location. He is a professional and lots of fun. We had a great time fishing and will be back.

Big Shout Out to Ryan Carter-

Rick and Hazel
