Captain Andrew Asher — "Shearwater"

Captain Andrew Asher is one of the newest members of the elite Key West Pro Guides team. A lifelong outdoorsman Captain Andrew as a youngster grew up fishing the waters of southeastern Virginia. The freshwater experience was just the beginning for Captain Andrew. As most professional guides will confirm, traveling is the first step to becoming a top guide. Nothing can replace pure experience, time on the water. Captain Andrew was no different and his fishing career was already beginning to come to life.

After a move to the west Captain Andrew cherished his time fishing in some of the most remote location of northern Montana, drifting and wading the world class trout streams. Captain Andrew enjoyed the opportunity to fish the western United States for a few years but continued to search for more…Years later after fishing the Bahamas for a period of time Captain Andrew realized saltwater angling was far more challenging and called to him. Captain Andrew's life was about to change forever.

On a short trip to Key West Captain Andrew was immediately taken by the beauty of the area and the prolific fishing, but landing his first Tarpon did it! On the spot, Captain Andrew realized he was going to become a fishing guide in Key West.

Today, Captain Andrew can be found poling the flats of Key West pursuing the elusive sport fish of the shallows Bonefish, Permit and his Tarpon. With his diverse background and experience, Captain Andrew has quickly made a name for himself in Key West. With a contagious enthusiasm for Tarpon fishing Captain Andrew has become a well-rounded guide and enjoys nothing better than leading others to their first "Silver King". He does offer the warning that it may "ruin your life for just about anything else other than Tarpon fishing, forever"
